Hollywood's New Generation Is Taking Action
Hollywood's Professionals Want To Help Change The World
Hollywood is in transition. A new generation has risen, anxious to have a voice in our nation's social directions, but without effective means to have their voice heard. The nation's two main political parties seem oddly outdated and out-of-step with the complexities of a new era defined by powerful forces - from rapid technological change to massive demographic shifts, from multinational corporations to terrorism. More over, there exists no organization in Hollywood that goes beyond fundraising to apply the industry's skills, talents, and resources towards innovative social projects.
The new generation owns the future, and with most of the town's leading social activists now over 60, it's time for our generation to craft a vision and start working towards it. But we're busy, uneducated on the issues, and we lack the time to fully manage projects. We need a home for our social activities and a plug-and-play infrastructure that will allow us to come together, get up to speed on issues, make educated decisions, and work on projects without having to manage them. With this in mind, we formed The Hollywood Hill, a new hybrid organization fashioned to affect positive social change by providing social topic education and project management for the new generation of industry professionals.
The Hill is fashioned to be a powerful social change machine that can apply its members' skills, talents, and resources towards any project or issue. Soon to be located in a newly converted 5,000 square foot warehouse, The Hill will provide its members with: (1) weekly educational events with expert speakers from the world's think tanks, universities, governments and industries; (2) the opportunity to create innovative policy through a partnership with the leading D.C.-based nonpartisan policy think tank The New America Foundation; (3) a digital media production facility for member-driven teams to create original media campaigns that promote our policy ideas and influence the marketplace.

Partners In Our Quest
New America Foundation
Described by The Washington Post as "the think tank for Generation Next: a hot and hip collection of young, media-savvy scholars who are trying to reinvent the way Washington thinks," The New America Foundation is becoming what Esquire Magazine dubs "the only think tank that matters." As an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit, public policy institute, the foundation awards up to twenty policy fellowships each year to individuals who have powerful ideas for moving public thinking into new terrain. The Hollywood Hill supports many of these policy ideas, crafting campaigns and working with the foundation, and public and private sector to move them forward. www.newamerica.net
WorldChanging.com
Co-Founded by Alex Steffen and Jamais Cascio, WorldChanging.com works from a simple premise: that the tools, models and ideas for building a better future lie all around us. That plenty of people are working on tools for change, but the fields in which they work remain unconnected. That the motive, means and opportunity for profound positive change are already present. That another world is not just possible, it's here. We only need to put the pieces together. Informed by that premise, WorldChanging works to bring you links to (and analysis of) those tools, models and ideas in a timely and concise manner. They pay special attention to tools, ideas adn models that may have been overlooked in the mass media. And they make a point of showing ways in which seemingly unconnected resources link together to form a toolkit for changing the world. The Hollywood Hill assists WorldChanging in the development of media and social policy projects. www.worldchanging.com
