Chinese Films
Since its most glorious moments in the late 1970s, the Chinese film market has experienced a long-lasting downfall. As noted in China Daily, this is partly due to the pervasive availability of bootlegged video products, and more importantly, the old film production and distribution system that is falling behind the fast growing needs in the market for higher quality and a wider variety of films. This situation started to change with new policies implemented since late 2003 that allow further flexibility for domestic production companies and distributors, as well as greater access to the Chinese film industry for foreign investors.
